Before He Comes

Posted on 10 Nov 2014, Pastor: Tolu Makinde
Introduction
  • Last week, we talked about the Promise of His Coming
  • That it is a sure promise that will come to pass.
  • We are sure of this because the previous promises of God came to pass, therefore, His other promises must come to pass
  • However, before He comes, certain things will happen.
  • The disciples asked Him privately, what shall be the sign of Your coming?
Main Topic
The sign of His coming – what we will witness before He comes
This is before the Rapture
  • Many will profess to be Jesus
    • Since 18th century
    • Jose Louis de Jesus – died in 2013
  • There will be wars and rumors of war
  • Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom
  • There shall be famines
  • There shall be pestilences – disease/plagues
  • There shall be earthquakes
  • The believers shall be afflicted
  • There will be killing of Christians
  • Christians will be hated because of Jesus
  • Betrayal and hatred of Christians by their father, mother, brother, sister
  • Many false prophets shall rise
  • The love of many will wax cold
  • The gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations
  • Then the end shall come
The “end” does not imply that it is the end of the earth, nor is it the end of mankind.
It is the beginning of judgment.
  1. The Rapture
    • 1Th 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1Th 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1Th 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
    • Jesus is coming to save the saints from the tribulation that is coming
    • 1Th 5:9  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 1Th 5:10  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
    • Sodom and Gomorah – Gen 19:22  Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
    • God will not judge the whole earth with the saints still on the earth.
    • 5 Raptures already took place in the Bible
      • Enock
      • Elijah
      • Jesus Christ
      • Matthew 27 saints
      • Apostle Paul – when 3rd heaven – 2 Cor.
    • 3 more raptures are coming
      • The saints
      • The 144K
      • The 2 witnesses
  1. The Rise of anti-Christ
    • Dan 8:23  And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
    • Daniel 11:35-End – talks about the anti-Christ
    • 1Jn 2:22  Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
    • 1Jn 2:18  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
    • 1Jn 4:3  And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
  2. Tribulation (3.5 years)
    • The temple will be rebuilt when Israel makes a covenant with anti-Christ.  The temple will be finished 3.5 years after the rapture.
    • Matt. 24:15 – he breaks his covenant with Israel after the temple is complete and cause the abomination of desolation
  3. The Abomination of Desolation
    • The Tribulation begins when anti-Christ solves the middle East problem
    • The first 3.5 years will have peace
    • During the tribulation – The anti-Christ will be wounded as a result of an attempted assassination, and he will be healed miraculously
    • Then the world would view him as God, and then he would exalt himself as God
    • Then he would break his covenant with Israel and will invade Israel
    • Mat 24:15  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
    • Dan 9:27  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
    • Dan 11:31  And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
    • Dan 12:11  And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
  4. Great Tribulation (3.5 years) – Rev 6-11
    1. 7 Seals
      1. White horse – This is the antiChrist – he comes on a white horse – speaks of deception (false peace)
      2. Red horse – the peace given by the first horseman was taken away by the red horse.
      3. Black horse – famine
      4. Pale horse – famine will be so great that animals will attack humans to eat
      5. Persecution and Killing of Jewish believers
      6. Worldwide devastation – most likely a nuclear war
      7. The 7 trumpets that the angels will sound – The judgment
What are we to do?
Luk 21:36  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Conclusion
  • The promise of His coming is a sure promise
  • The Rapture will take the saints away to prevent their participation in judgment
  • Antichrist will show up and make peace with Israel
  • In the middle of the tribulation period, he will break the peace agreement
  • He will cause the abomination of desolation
  • Then the great tribulation period will start
  • The only ones that will escape this are those that have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior
