Title: Enter Into His Rest
Text: Ps. 95:1-11
[Psa 95:1] Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
[Psa 95:2] Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
[Psa 95:3] For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods.
[Psa 95:4] In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also.
[Psa 95:5] The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land.
[Psa 95:6] Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
[Psa 95:7] For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:
[Psa 95:8] “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,
[Psa 95:9] When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work.
[Psa 95:10] For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’
[Psa 95:11] So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ “
Introduction
-
The rest of God is two fold: one in this life on earth, one in the eternal life in His Kingdom
-
The rest of God here on earth does not mean living a trouble free life or a life that does not have challenges
-
It means having the assurance that no matter what, all will be well
-
Through that assurance, we have joy and we have peace
-
Let the whole world fall apart, your joy and peace shall not be removed
-
The rest of God in the eternal life is to spend eternity with Him in His Kingdom.
-
That is the ultimate rest that every believer ought to be looking forward to.
-
The place where there is no pain and sorrow
-
The place where there are no sicknesses or diseases
-
The place where there is no death
-
The place where the streets are paved with gold
-
The place where there is no darkness
-
The place where there is always light, and God is that Light
-
That is the rest we should be looking forward to
Main Topic
The rest of God on earth
The rest of God in His Kingdom
-
When you have the rest of God here on earth, you should be looking forward to that rest with Him in eternity
-
If you know Him as your Lord and Savior, you qualify to enter into His eternal rest
-
We enter into His eternal rest through physical death here on earth or through rapture

1 Thes. 4:13-18
-
[1Th 4:13] But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
-
[1Th 4:14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
-
[1Th 4:15] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
-
[1Th 4:16] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
-
[1Th 4:17] Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
-
[1Th 4:18] Therefore comfort one another with these words.
-
The only Way to this rest is through Jesus Christ
-
[Joh 14:6] Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
-
[Joh 3:3] Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
-
This rest is explained in Rev 21:3-8, 22-27
-
[Rev 21:3] And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
-
[Rev 21:4] And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
-
[Rev 21:5] Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
-
[Rev 21:6] And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
-
[Rev 21:7] He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
-
[Rev 21:8] But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
-
[Rev 21:22] But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
-
[Rev 21:23] The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
-
[Rev 21:24] And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
-
[Rev 21:25] Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there).
-
[Rev 21:26] And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.
-
[Rev 21:27] But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
