Title: Living the Kingdom Lifestyle – III
Text: Matt. 6:9-13, 33
[Mat 6:9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
[Mat 6:10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[Mat 6:11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[Mat 6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[Mat 6:13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
[Mat 6:33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Introduction
-
Our Lord’s prayer asked for the kingdom to come. For the will of God to be done here on earth as it is in heaven
-
In a kingdom, there is a King. The King has a domain in which He rules over.
-
Living a Kingdom lifestyle means that Jesus is the King and the domain He rules is all the affairs of your life
-
However, this King is not a dictator. He won’t force you to do anything. You have to willingly surrender all to Him.
-
Living the Kingdom lifestyle is equivalent to running your race according to the plan of God for your life
-
This message will touch on major areas we ought to pay attention to as we continue this journey called life and running the Christian race
-
I pray we learn something from this message and the message be a blessing to us all.
1 Salvation, Sanctification, Baptism of the Holy Spirit (SSB) as the foundations
2 You must grow spiritually
3 You must display the fruit of the Spirit
4 Godliness with Contentment
5 Practice Giving your best
-
[Joh 3:16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
-
Giving is an heavenly practice
-
Our Father gave not only His best, but His only Son to us
-
Our Lord Jesus Christ gave His best to us – He laid down His life for us
-
When we give to God, it should be our best
-
Abel gave his best and it was accepted
-
Cain gave something and it was rejected
-
God is not a beggar. He deserves our best.
-
Abraham gave his best and he was blessed forever. Why?
-
When Abraham was ready to give His only son, he proved how much he loved God
-
God was so touched, He said, by Myself have I sworn, in blessing I will bless thee, in multiplying I will multiply thy seed. – Gen. 22:16-17
-
The minimum standard when we give is to give our best
6 Hard work pays off
-
[Col 3:23] And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
-
[Pro 6:6] Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
-
[Pro 6:7] Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
-
[Pro 6:8] Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
-
[Pro 6:9] How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
-
[Pro 6:10] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
-
[Pro 6:11] So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
-
There are some believers who try to pray their way out of working hard. It won’t work.
-
[Joh 5:17] But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
-
[1Ti 5:8] But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
-
A believer who does not work has denied the faith
-
A person who does not work is worse than an unbeliever
-
Laziness is robbing many believers of their blessings
-
It is our work that God will bless and multiply
-
If the work is zero. Multiply zero by a billion, you still end up with zero
-
The disciples were working when Jesus met them
-
Peter toiled all night and caught nothing – he was working hard to stay out all night
-
We must work hard – there is no easy way out
7 Warfare is a part of our life
-
[1Ti 1:18] This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
-
[Mat 11:12] And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
-
There are times that calls for us to warfare, so we can take what rightfully belongs to us
-
We must know the strategy of the enemy – John 10:10
-
To avoid being a victim of the enemy, we must warfare
-
Learn to pray warfare prayers. A day is coming when you will need it.
-
Warfare is our way of claiming the victory that Jesus won on the cross
-
No battle, no victory
8 Your service to God counts
-
In the kingdom of God, every creature uses their God given abilities to the service of God
-
We should equally do the same to live a kingdom lifestyle
-
The 24 elders, the four beasts, the arch angels, the angels – they all use everything that God gave them (talent and abilities) to serve God
-
The heavenly creatures that refused to serve God (Lucifer and his angels) were expelled
-
We must serve God with everything God has blessed us with
-
Don’t sit on the sideline, get involved, do something for the kingdom with your abilities
-
[Rom 8:19] For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
-
[Heb 6:10] For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
-
It is impossible for you to serve God and be forgotten
9 Forgive quickly
-
[Mat 6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
-
[Act 15:37] And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
-
[Act 15:38] But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
-
[Act 15:39] And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
-
[Act 15:40] And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
-
[2Ti 4:11] Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
-
In Acts 15, Paul and Barnabas separated because of Mark. Paul did not want to take Mark.
-
In 2 Tim 4, Paul is now the one saying that Mark is profitable to him
-
Mark must have proved himself. Paul must have forgiven him.
-
If Paul did not forgive, he would not have stated that Mark is profitable to him
-
Don’t hold grudges. It is unforgiveness.
-
Don’t discard anyone because they offended you today. They could be of a channel of your blessing tomorrow.
-
Learn to forgive quickly
