Title: Living the Kingdom Lifestyle
Text: Matt. 6:9-13, 33
[Mat 6:9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
[Mat 6:10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[Mat 6:11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[Mat 6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[Mat 6:13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
[Mat 6:33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Introduction
-
Our Lord’s prayer asked for the kingdom to come. For the will of God to be done here on earth as it is in heaven
-
In a kingdom, there is a King. The King has a domain in which He rules over.
-
Living a Kingdom lifestyle means that Jesus is the King and the domain He rules is all the affairs of your life
-
However, this King is not a dictator. He won’t force you to do anything. You have to willingly surrender all to Him.
-
Living the Kingdom lifestyle is equivalent to running your race according to the plan of God
-
This message will touch on major areas we ought to pay attention to as we continue this journey called life
-
I pray we learn something from this message and the message be a blessing to us all.
-
This message will be in series as we can’t finish it in one or two sessions.
-
However, we will start with the foundations needed to live a kingdom lifestyle
Foundations for the Kingdom Lifestyle
[Psa 11:3] If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
[1Co 3:11] For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
The foundations are vital, it is on these foundations that our Christian walk is built
If it is solid, one would run the race well and finish well
If it is shaky, it is possible for one to fall or to even backslide
1 Salvation, Sanctification, Baptism of the Holy Spirit (SSB)
-
Salvation
-
You must be saved.
-
[Joh 3:16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
-
[2Co 5:17] Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
-
[Rom 10:9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
-
[Rom 10:10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
-
Sanctification
-
You must be sanctified
-
From the Latin word santificio => to separate and set aside for holiness or to make holy
-
Holiness
-
It is a continuous process – you don’t attain it and then stop
-
When making decisions, there are holy ones, and unholy ones
-
When taking certain steps, there are holy ones, and unholy ones
-
The one you pick will show whether you are holy or unholy
-
Holy => Dedicated or consecrated to God. Devoted to the service of God.
-
God is holy
-
[Exo 15:11] Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
-
Jesus is holy
-
[Luk 1:35] And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
-
Holy Spirit – holiness is embedded in His name
-
If God is holy, Jesus is holy, Holy Spirit is holy, then I must be holy
-
[1Pe 1:15] But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; [1Pe 1:16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
-
[2Ti 2:20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. [2Ti 2:21] If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
-
Baptism of the Holy Spirit
-
You must be baptized in the Holy Spirit; with the evidence of speaking in tongues
-
[Mat 3:11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
-
[Act 2:1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
-
[Act 2:2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
-
[Act 2:3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
-
[Act 2:4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
-
Without salvation, there is no baptism of the Holy Ghost
-
Without the baptism of the Holy Ghost, there is no fire
