Powers Behind the Scenes

Title: Powers Behind the Scenes
Text: Eph. 6:12
[Eph 6:12]  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
 
Introduction
 
  • Apostle Paul wrote this to the Ephesian Christians.
  • “We” implies the church, you and I.
  • We do not wrestle against flesh and blood 
  • We do not wrestle against physical beings
  • We wrestle against spiritual beings:
    • principalities, 
    • against powers, 
    • against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
    • against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places
  • Wrestle means to struggle against a problem or a difficulty
  • When you wrestle against flesh and blood, it is because the powers behind the scenes are operating undetected.
  • The moment you realize that there are spiritual forces behind the scenes, your strategy needs to change
  • Physical weapons can’t destroy spiritual forces
  • They are organized and they have battle strategies for decades to come
  • Unless one operates under the direction of the Most High, the battle will be lost

Satan is the god of this world – 2 Cor. 4:3-4 [KJV]
  • [2Co 4:3]  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
  • [2Co 4:4]  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
  • As a result he has kings and princes all over the world
  • He has the authority to give whomever he pleases his kingdom – Luke 4:5-6
    • [Luk 4:5]  And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
    • [Luk 4:6]  And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
  • There are physical rulers and there are spiritual rulers
 
Satan has an hierarchy in his kingdom
  • Principalities are ruling spirits assigned over nations and cities
  • Powers is the 2nd level of authority in Satan’s kingdom. They exert influence over the decision making bodies of a nation, influencing the structures of all the governing authorities and promoting wickedness
  • Rulers of darkness are mandated by the devil to promote false religions and occult practices, thereby enslaving the souls of men in deception.
  • Spiritual hosts of wickedness – these are evil spirits, personalities who host the embodiment of evil.  They cause calamities and sudden destructions.
 
There are powers behind the scenes
  • Prince of Persia and kings of Persia
    • Daniel 10:1-3
      • [Dan 10:1]  In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, but the appointed time was long; and he understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.
      • [Dan 10:2]  In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.
      • [Dan 10:3]  I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
    • Cyrus was the physical king of Persia
    • Daniel started to fast and pray for 21 days. 
    • Cyrus could not have known that Daniel was fasting and praying about a particular situation
    • Daniel 10:11-14
      • [Dan 10:11]  And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.
      • [Dan 10:12]  Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.
      • [Dan 10:13]  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.
      • [Dan 10:14]  Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the visionrefers to many days yet to come.”
    • From the first day Daniel started to pray, the answer was sent
      • The answer to your prayers has been sent
    • The prince of the kingdom of Persia prevented the answer from coming to Daniel for 21 days
      • There are answers to prayers that are being withheld in the spiritual realm
      • The prince of the kingdom of Persia is none other than the principality assigned to the kingdom of Persia.  It is not the son of Cyrus. 
      • Cyrus was the physical ruler, but this prince is the spiritual ruler.
      • No man can withhold an angel.  It must be a spiritual power.
      • Michael, the archangel, had to come and help because the angel sent with the answer to Daniel’s prayers was held with the kings of Persia 
      • Notice – kings of Persia – again, not Cyrus, but principalities that Satan had given the Persia kingdom to.
      • Cyrus was there as if he was ruling
      • There were princes and kings in Persia that were ruling behind the scenes
    • If Daniel had stopped praying, there would not have been a reinforcement from heaven
      • Don’t stop praying.  Keep praying until you see the answer.
  • As it was in the days of Daniel, so it is today. There are powers behind the scenes
    • In every nation, state, city, or village, there are physical rulers and there are spiritual rulers
      • That is why we must pray for our leaders not be influenced by these demonic forces
      • Otherwise, they will be passing laws that are against the ordinances of God
    • In every family of the world, there are physical rulers and there are spiritual rulers
      • If the physical ruler is not born again and spirit filled, it is only a matter of time before you see the influence of the spiritual ruler
    • In your family, make God the foundation of your home and that will uproot any demonic spiritual ruler
      • It is vital for men to be born again in the home as the physical ruler in the home.  Otherwise, they are under the influence of the demonic powers that rule spiritual atmosphere of the family.
      • For example, if you notice generational patterns of a problem or difficulty, there are spiritual forces behind it.
      • In some families, their men don’t live past age 50
      • In some families, their women must develop breast cancer by age 50
      • In some families, the most successful person drives 1 car, and it’s a 1980 Oldsmobile
    • What is the solution to all these problems:
      • The atomic power of fasting and prayer – just like Daniel did.
 
 
Conclusion
 
  • There are powers behind the scenes that physical weapon cannot destroy
  • Satan is the god of this world
  • He has a kingdom that is highly organized
  • Our battle is with this kingdom and not flesh and blood
