Title: The Lord Shall Fight For You
Text:  Ex. 14:13-14, Ex. 15:3
[Exo 14:13]  And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
[Exo 14:14]  The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
[Exo 15:3]  The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
  • The Lord is a man of war and He shall fight for you.
  • He fought for the Children of Israel many times.  If He could do it then, He’s more than able to do it now.
  • The Lord is the mighty man in battle.  The battle plans and strategy are with Him
    • [Psa 24:7]  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
    • [Psa 24:8]  Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
    • [Psa 24:9]  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
    • [Psa 24:10]  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.
Main Topic
1. The Lord knows how to win battles
The battle at the Red Sea
  • The children of Israel had left Egypt and they were being pursued by Pharaoh and his army
  • Pharaoh took 600 chosen chariots and all the chariots in Egypt, with captain over every one of them
  • Fear gripped the people of Israel and they started to murmur against Moses
  • Moses told them “Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD”
  • The Lord told Moses:
    • [Exo 14:16]  But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
    • This year 2021, the Lord shall make a way for you where you thought there was no way in the name of Jesus Christ.
  • [Exo 14:21]  And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
    • I command the east wind to blow this year and cause doors to be opened unto you in the name of Jesus Christ
    • You shall walk along the way the Lord has made this year in the name of Jesus Christ
  • The Egyptians pursued after them into the red sea
  • They saw the pillar of fire and they saw the pillar of cloud, yet they did not turn back
  • Every enemy that will not leave you alone shall meet with destruction in Jesus name
  • They pursued them into the sea that God had parted for His children
  • But the Lord fought for His children
    • [Exo 14:25]  And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
  • The Lord took off the wheels of their chariots – 600 chosen chariots and all the chariots of Egypt
  • Moses stretched forth his hands, and the waters returned and covered the Egyptians
  • The water that made way for the Israelites became the weapon that destroyed the Egyptians
  • The Lord knows how to win battes, and He shall fight for you
King Jehosaphat and the invasion of Judah – 2 Chro. 20
  • When the news came that an invasion was coming to Judah, Jehosaphat proclaimed a fast, and reported the situation to God v1-13
  • Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel and he said:
    • [2Ch 20:15]  And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
    • [2Ch 20:16]  To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
    • [2Ch 20:17]  Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
  • The Lord fought for them:
    • [2Ch 20:20]  And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
    • [2Ch 20:21]  And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.
    • [2Ch 20:22]  And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
  • The Lord caused confusion in the camp of the enemy, and they turned on each other and destroyed each other.
  • Every conspiracy designed to destroy you shall be put to shame in Jesus name
  • The Lord knows how to win battles and He shall fight for you
The Battle at Rephaim – 2 Sam. 5
  • After David was made the king of Israel, the Philistines came up against him at Rephaim
    • [2Sa 5:22]  And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
    • [2Sa 5:23]  And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
    • [2Sa 5:24]  And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.
    • [2Sa 5:25]  And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
  • The Lord knows how to win battles and He shall fight for you
The Battle at Jericho – Josh. 6
2. Conditions for God to fight for you
  • There are certain conditions that must be met before the Lord can fight for anyone.
    • You must be His child. Notice that the Lord will only fight for His children, He will not fight for the children of strangers.
    • If you want the Lord to be on your side and fight for you, then you must be ready to be His child
    • The only way to be His child, is to accept His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior
    • Then and only then, the Lord shall fight for you
    • [Rom 8:31]  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
  • Don’t allow sin into your life
    • The battle at Ai was lost because of sin entered the camp of the Israelites
    • Balak and Balaam – [Rev 2:14]  But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
  • Invite God into the situations
    • God may show up uninvited if you don’t know how to invite Him. Just as He showed up for me when I was 10 or 11 years old.
    • God will show up only if you invite Him. Just like He showed up for me when I invited Him into a battle I could not fight.
    • You invite God into the situation through prayer
  • The Lord is a man of war
  • The Lord is the mighty man in battle
  • The Lord knows how to win the battles of your life
  • However, you must be His child as He only fights for His own
  • You must invite Him into the battle as the Lord of Hosts
