Text: John 14:6, 4:24, 5:33

[Joh 14:6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

[Joh 4:24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and intruth [Jesus Christ].

[Joh 5:33] Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth [Jesus Christ].

Introduction

Jesus is the Way
Jesus is the Truth
Jesus is the Life
The last time we established that Jesus is the only Way to the Father
Today, we will establish that Jesus is the only Truth that keeps us on the right path to the Father
Truth means that which is true or is a confirmed fact
It is a fact that Jesus is the Son of God
It is a fact that Jesus came in the flesh to save humanity
It is a fact that Jesus lived a sinless life
It is a fact that Jesus was crucified on the cross
It is a fact that Jesus rose on the third day
It is a fact that Jesus ascended to heaven
It is a fact that Jesus is coming back
If everything before the “coming back” is true, why do people think He’s not coming back?
Jesus is the Way that shows us the path to the Father
Jesus is the Truth that keeps us on the right path to the Father

Main Topic

1. Jesus is the Word of Truth

Jesus is the Word, therefore the Word is the truth – John 1:1-5, 17:17, 2 Tim. 2:15, Jam. 1:18
[Joh 1:1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[Joh 1:2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[Joh 1:3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[Joh 1:4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[Joh 1:5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[Joh 17:17] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
[2Ti 2:15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
[Jas 1:18] Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

2. Purpose of the Word is to keep us in check

The Word will keep you on the right path to the Father – 2 Tim. 3:16-17

[2Ti 3:16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable fordoctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
[2Ti 3:17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
- For doctrine – so that we do not follow the wrong doctrine from the pit of hell
- For reproof – so that we can be rebuked when we are in the wrong
- For correction – so when we make mistakes, we can be corrected
- For instruction in righteousness – so that we can remain holy and obedient
[Psa 119:105] Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

3. Truth can be bitter, lies can be sweet, but in the end only the truth will stand.

[Psa 119:89] For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
- Forever, His Word shall remain the truth
[Mat 24:35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
[Psa 18:30] As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
[Isa 40:8] The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
[Joh 8:44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
- Every word from the devil is a lie
- Even when he appears to state facts and they sound sweet, in the end, it’s a lie
- One can choose to believe the truth or believe a lie, in the end only the truth shall stand

5. Past truth is a prediction of future truth

In the court system, a witness is believed if there are no lies in their testimony. In same way, a witness is not believed if there are evidence of lies in their testimony or there was a history of lies in the witness.
From the time past, there has been no lie with our God, in fact, it is impossible for God to lie
[Heb 6:18] That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

6. A few true statements about you in the Truth

[1Pe 2:9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
[Psa 91:16] With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
[Exo 23:25-26] And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
[3Jn 1:2] Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
[Isa 54:17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousnessis of me, saith the LORD.
[Deu 28:13] And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
[Isa 43:2] When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Conclusion

The Word in your hand is the Truth
The purpose of that Word is to keep us in check at all times, so that we do not miss it.
If we fail to study the instructions for life here on earth, it will be impossible to meet with the Father
[2Ti 2:15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
